Settings - metadata - add auto/manual import mode switch

Windows11 (24H2), display resolution 3840x2160, dpi scale 150%

Settings - metadata
functionality of Import/Export settings in Metadata group differs:
  • import - affects auto/manual import
    auto-import, Update Catalog from files, Import folder..., Synchronize folders...
  • export - affects manual export
    Update files from Catalog
which is inconvenient:
- auto-import functionality is not mentioned anywhere
- it is impossible to disable auto-import and be able to manually import metadata


Suggestion

  • rework Metadata group functionality
    • add 'Import mode' group
      - split automatic import functionality from Import checkboxes into new single explicit checkbox

      OR
    • add 'Mode' group for both Import and Export
      - Import - same as above
      - Export - add setting for automatic export metadata (eg like in Lightroom)
  • Update when file is changed outside (date/size)
    • move
      move into new mode group as it falls outside the scope of 'Category&keywords' group
      - it should reimport all metadata (rating, labels, cats, face tags)
