If I leave the search fields blank will that work?
Or if I used *.* could that help?

I am looking for some advice on a search term.
I have a folder with subfolders with images in them. I have labelled the images with a headline and a byline tag , yet some of the images are without labels.

Does anyone know how to swap IPTC fields?
i.e. I want to put the object name into the headline for 1000 images.
What's the best way to do this?

IPTC editing
Hi All
I have a number of images with numbers in the headline IPTC tag.
I often use a program called renamer to order filenames and strip numbers and strings from filenames.
Is there any way to integrate this program into XNView, or does XNView have a feature that allows you to strip IPTC data ...

Great program.
These are two features that I think would make the IPTC experience easier.
1) add filenames to a selected IPTC field.
2) interchange IPTC fields. I.e. you can make headline = object name, or headline ="description".
3) editing the IPTC of Tiff files.

For JPEG's. I want to put the filename into the IPTC field.
I have a set of files, and I will rename them all, but I want to keep the old filenames in the IPTC data.
How can I do this?
Thanks for your prompt responses to my questions!

Hi
I ran a search for this question, but came up with a lot of old answers.
Is this feature available in the new version?

Swapping IPTC
Would it not be possible to do this, by doing a convert and then running a script that does this swop? I don't know what the script would be though. Anybody have any ideas for this script?

Searching for pictures based no. of pixels on longest side
Hi
I am looking for a way to remove all pictures in a category, including all sub categories, that have too few pixels on the longest side. It must dump these into a folder called "too small" or I can manually select and remove them. I.e. I want to set the dimensions of the longest side, and all ...

That helps immensely!
A shortcoming I have found with exifer is that you can't apply a batch to a root directory and it applies the function to all sub files.
Any ideas on how to do this?
Big up to XNview for this great feature!

Batch Resize and Rename
Hi
Thanks for the great response.
It worked perfectly, except for the rename. It is a nifty trick not to close the dialog box after conversion!
I just ran resize and it works, but I need to have all the files renamed.
So that when I do a resize for web, I can call the file 100000_web.jpg, and ...

Swapping IPTC
Hi
Does anybody know how to swap all the IPTC fields of a folder?
I have a lot of photos with entries in the wrong fields. I would like to put all entries that are in Object name, into the headline field. How do I do this without doing it manually photo by photo!
Thanks
Alex
