Re: Window position - 1.50 (Linux)

That's quite a number of bugs. Pierre is currently working on the Unix/Linux version and I think that he'll address the major bugs, too. Note: If possible, place one bug per post. If you have several bugs (and you're pretty sure that these are bugs), you can mail them with a description on how to re...

Re: Different icons depending on filetypes?

In XnView you cannot set different icons per file type, but you can set this in the MS Explorer: 1.) Start MS Explorer 2.) Select "Extras->Folder Options" 3.) Select the folder tab "File Types" 4.) In the list of file types, select the file type you want to assign a special icon. 5.) Select the butt...

Re: Cant get to the d/l site posted...

Temporarily, the main server http://www.xnview.com had a problem and was down, this is fixed, now. Some words on broken download links: XnView is listed in many download portals all over the world. Sometimes a download portal still has an old download link. If you find a broken download link, please...

Don't we have a button called "Options", just at side of "file type"? What is the problem with clicking there? Right, there's the "Options" button in the "Save" dialog, this one is really helpful and directs to the appropriate options. But people might compress a file for the internet down to 30%. ...

Re: JPEG: Big files - Bad quality

I'm not deep in the JPEG compression, but I think that there is a standard implementation which is used by most graphic programs, and programs can set/change parameters of the compression, only. As written in some other posts (e.g. Smaller image has same file size ), JPG compression is tricky. Addit...

Think the options should be displayed right before saving (as Greg proposed). With some formats like JPG and GIF, you often want to make a special setting per image: For example in GIF files, you want to set the Transparent color and interlaced/non-interlaced. Making these settings in the general op...

Currently, Alain, Pierre and I investigate the problem, which is specific to the statistic program "Brodgar". Once we have a solution we will post here, again.

Re: Smaller image has same file size

The phenomenom you observe might surprise other people, too: You have a JPG image 600x400, resize it to 300x200, save it and the saved image is larger in size than the original image! Reason for this is the lossy image compression of JPG: When saving an image in the JPEG format, one can set a qualit...

Re: Problem opening JPEGs

The reason for your problem is really not the spaces in the path, but the fact that your stat program does not pass the path of the image file to the program that is called (here XnView). This can be clearly seen in the error message that XnView displays: "Error opening file 'graph.jpg'". Not quite ...

... However, when the stats program tries to open the jpeg, XnView opens and then gives an error "error opening file graph.jpg". ... I've tried to reproduce the problem with XnView 1.65 on Windows 98 FE, but did not succeed. Which XnView version do you use? Which OS?

Perhaps a special option in XnView is set which influences and causes this problem. Could you please send your .ini file to Pierre and/or me?

XnView allows setting the layout of the three panes/areas (folder tree, preview, and thumbnails) in the browser the way you want, already. Try "View->Layout->Third_menu_item_from_top.

Re: Keyboard selection of files in browser [Bug]

Could reproduce your problem. In the XnView Browser, you move from one thumbnail to the next, using the arrow keys. In the status bar, file name and file information is updated, but on the right side, the size and number of all the selected files , e.g. 1 file(s) selected [7.93 KBytes]is not updated...
